Responsible Gaming

As a multinational and multicultural integrated resort operator, Melco is committed to responsible corporate citizenship by means of contributing to the sustainable growth of the many communities in which it operates. Furthermore, Melco seeks to protect the interests of such communities through the implementation of appropriate social safeguards.

Melco is an integrated resort operator that is respectful of different cultures and prides itself on both upholding the highest level of corporate governance and implementing relevant social safeguard policies. Melco considers social responsibility as an integral part of its corporate culture and responsible gaming as one of its core charity pillars.

A Model Corporate Citizen

Responsible Gaming (RG) is an important area of focus for Melco. This is reflected by the continuing introduction of Responsible Gaming initiatives under the leadership of Melco’s Chairman and CEO, Mr. Lawrence Ho, who serves as the executive sponsor of the Company’s RG Steering Committee.

Among the many initiatives that Melco has undertaken include RG training as fundamental and mandatory for the orientation of every new employee. All staff members are encouraged to refresh their RG knowledge by viewing a RG promotion video available through the Company’s internal TV channel “Melco TV” and employee intranet. Within the Melco properties, one can find posters and pamphlets on responsible gaming. Furthermore, RG ambassadors are equipped with the relevant expertise to offer assistance to patrons and the ability to guide those seeking assistance through the self-exclusion procedures. Customers would find the contact details to free counseling services easily assessable on the City of Dreams’ website.

Melco also works closely with the Macau Government and professional counseling services to promote responsible gaming practices to its employees, customers and the general public. In addition, Melco is an active supporter of RG Awareness Week, organized by the Macau Social Welfare Bureau, Macau Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau (DICJ), and Institute for the Study of Commercial Gaming at the University of Macau, and co-organized by the Civic and Municipal Affairs Bureau (IACM) and members of the Chamber of Macau Casino Gaming Concessionaries and Sub-concessionaries. A full breadth of activities are offered to attendees, including RG Awareness Survey, RG Forum, RG Training Program, exhibition, and other promotional work.
